Challenge

Tranos, a Lagos, Nigeria based manufacturer, managed critical business functions through manual processes and disconnected tools. This approach led to inefficiencies on the shop floor, delayed transaction visibility, difficulty ensuring accurate traceability and increased production costs. Tranos recognized the need for an integrated system that would support their growing workforce of over 200 employees and enable compliance with ISO standards.

Results

After adopting Global Shop Solutions ERP in 2020, Tranos achieved comprehensive process automation, immediate access to real-time production and inventory data and improved historical record retrieval. The ERP system enabled structured workflows, enhanced material control and prevented costly errors while supporting ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 compliance. As a result, Tranos reduced production and quality costs, improved operational efficiency and gained a fully integrated quote-to-cash workflow, empowering data-driven business decisions and continuous improvement.

About Tranos

Tranos is a mixed-mode provider of engineering, manufacturing and technical solutions serving the power and energy, oil and gas, residential and commercial, industrial and manufacturing and telecommunications industries. Headquartered in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, Tranos employs over 200 people and produces a wide range of products including power protection and distribution systems, cable management, enclosures, storage systems, gaskets and power generation solutions.

The Challenge

Tranos faced significant operational challenges due to reliance on manual processes and fragmented data systems. With a workforce exceeding 200 employees and a diverse product portfolio, Tranos struggled to efficiently track shop floor activities, ensure timely and accurate business transactions and maintain traceability from customer order through fulfillment and financial reporting. These limitations hampered their ability to control quality, manage inventory and keep pace with global market demands, ultimately increasing operational costs and risking non-compliance with regulatory standards.

The Solution

Seeking to transform their operations, Tranos evaluated several ERP solutions with the goal of achieving full process integration, automation and real-time data visibility. According to Joshua Zelibe, Assistant Manager, Methods & Quality, "We needed an ERP system that would enable us to ensure timely, accurate traceability of the company’s everyday business transactions. This includes everything from customer orders, material purchases, manufacturing and order fulfillment to every financial and inventory transaction associated with an order or multiple orders. Global Shop Solutions suited our business processes better than the other ERP solutions we considered." With Global Shop Solutions ERP, Tranos unified its core business functions - including quoting, purchasing, production, inventory and finance - into a single system. The ERP’s real-time data tracking, dashboards and automation features enabled each department to perform specialized roles using dedicated modules. "Every department has a specific role to play and uses the appropriate modules to perform their functions. We now have a fully integrated 'quote to cash' workflow process that covers everything from customer requests and purchase orders to shipment and invoicing," noted Zelibe.

The Results

The deployment of Global Shop Solutions ERP in 2020 marked a turning point for Tranos’s manufacturing operations. The company achieved better organization of data tracking and significantly reduced production and quality costs by automating and structuring key processes. Real-time shop floor data improved material control and prevented errors such as producing parts undergoing engineering changes. "Global Shop Solutions improved operational efficiency by helping us structure our operations correctly. For example, production cannot begin without a detailed bill of material, giving us better material control. The system also prevents the production of parts undergoing engineering changes, thus reducing the cost of quality," explained Zelibe. The ERP enabled compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards and facilitated faster access to historical records for audits. Most importantly, the new system empowered Tranos to make informed, data-driven decisions, drive ongoing improvements and remain competitive in demanding markets. "Competitive global markets demand ongoing improvement. Global Shop Solutions helps us collect meaningful data so we can understand where we are as an organization and provide a framework for setting objectives and driving improvements. As a result, our processes are better defined and automated," said Zelibe.
