Challenge
Staber encountered critical operational inefficiencies with its legacy ERP system. Persistent payroll issues, duplicate data entry and a lack of integration with customer databases hindered information flow and visibility. The system's inability to provide real-time inventory tracking or precise job costing introduced delays and errors, increasing administrative burden and limiting the company's ability to respond efficiently to customer demands. Additionally, costly hardware upgrades further strained resources, highlighting the urgent need for a unified, modern ERP solution aligned with the demands of contemporary manufacturing.
Results
With Global Shop Solutions ERP, Staber achieved 100% inventory accuracy and eliminated duplicate data entry, dramatically improving workflow transparency and responsiveness. Real-time inventory control enabled better production planning and order fulfillment. Job costing processes accelerated and integration with UPS and ACH payment processing yielded substantial administrative time savings. About Staber
Founded in 1976, Staber is a second-generation, family-owned business headquartered in Groveport, Ohio. Initially a remanufacturer of laundry machine components, Staber now produces its own line of washing machines and drying cabinets, serving medical, fire and residential sectors. The company also manufactures specialized sports equipment through recent acquisitions. The Challenge
Staber faced operational bottlenecks due to its outdated ERP system. The previous solution struggled with persistent payroll inaccuracies, inefficient duplicate data entry and a lack of integration between core business functions and customer databases. Inventory tracking and job costing were cumbersome and imprecise, leading to workflow delays and limited insight into production performance. These challenges created significant administrative overhead and restricted the company’s capacity to adapt to customer needs or scale operations.
The Solution
Seeking to modernize its manufacturing operations, Staber evaluated alternative ERP options and selected Global Shop Solutions ERP for its comprehensive, fully integrated platform and flexibility. According to Bill Staber, President, "Global Shop Solutions offered far more capabilities than our previous system, and we liked the idea of moving to a PC-based system. Most important, it gave us a complete, fully-integrated package in one system." The implementation supported real-time data integration throughout the business, automating key processes from quoting to shipping and payroll. As Administrator Brooke Eisele shared, "The integration of data is superb. It takes a lot less time to complete an order, track the inventory and ship it out the door. It’s also much easier to see where problems arise and know how to fix them." Office Manager Sylvia Fenwick added, "CRM is always open on my desk. If a customer calls about a job, I have all the information right at my fingertips. I can call up invoices, order history, payment history and anything else I need to know without having to run to a file cabinet."
The Results
Staber realized a transformation in manufacturing management with Global Shop Solutions ERP. The company achieved 100% inventory accuracy, facilitating real-time tracking and control across the shop floor. Job costing cycles accelerated, supporting more responsive quoting and resource allocation. Administrative tasks, including shipping and payment processing, saw significant time savings due to seamless UPS and ACH integration. Staff benefited from immediate access to consolidated data, enabling superior customer service and operational agility. While specific stock reduction metrics were not quantified, the new ERP system empowered Staber to meet customer expectations with greater confidence and efficiency.
