About MaTech Solutions

MaTech is a leading fabricator of precision parts and assemblies for the defense and commercial industries, serving U.S. and foreign governments, government contractors and manufacturers from a 165,000-square-foot facility in Salisbury, Maryland. Founded in 1988, MaTech is ISO-9001 certified and uses advanced CNC and CMM systems.

The Challenge

MaTech faced mounting operational complexities as it grew. Reliance on manual labor tracking, fragmented data and inconsistent inventory counts resulted in inefficiencies that threatened their ability to meet compliance requirements and deliver on customer expectations. "We needed a better way to track everything we do. For example, in the past, we tracked labor by having a manager perform a manual update of everyone’s time. The update wasn’t very accurate and we didn’t know where the time was being charged," said Dorie Simpler, Planning Manager. These issues impacted MaTech’s ability to scale, control costs and bid confidently on new projects.

The Solution

Recognizing the need for a robust, integrated system, MaTech evaluated its options and selected Global Shop Solutions ERP for its comprehensive suite of manufacturing-focused modules and intuitive user experience. The decision was fueled by the desire for real-time operational visibility, accurate inventory management and automated scheduling. Employees quickly adapted to the platform, leveraging its integrated modules to unify project management, scheduling and compliance. As Dorie Simpler shared, "The visibility of data in Project Management is superb. From one screen I can see all the work orders on any project and quickly drill down for more information about that project." Mary Bly, Inventory Accountant, added, "We’ve been carrying 99 percent accurate inventory counts and costs for the last four years. We still make mistakes from time to time. But when we do inventory counts on dollar value and quantity, they’re almost perfect."

The Results

With Global Shop Solutions ERP, MaTech saw measurable improvements across key operational metrics. Inventory accuracy reached 99%, enabling reliable production planning and reducing costly stock discrepancies. The company eliminated the need for disruptive physical inventory shutdowns, maintaining continuous operations. Over five years, late job costs dropped from $500,000 to under $20,000, reflecting superior scheduling and cost control.
