Challenge
Galaxy operated with a legacy ERP system that lacked the integration and real-time capabilities required for modern manufacturing. The absence of a unified solution led to inefficient scheduling, redundant paper-based workflows and delays in accessing accurate job costing and financial data. As a result, Galaxy faced limitations in operational visibility, productivity and timely decision-making, impacting their ability to serve high-profile clients and maintain industry certifications.
Results
By implementing Global Shop Solutions ERP, Galaxy achieved a fully integrated manufacturing environment. The software eliminated most paper processes, provided instant access to job costing and financial information and enabled customized scheduling and workflow management. The adoption of the Global Application Builder further allowed Galaxy Technologies to tailor the system to their unique needs. These enhancements improved operational efficiency, reduced lead times and delivered accurate, real-time insights for better resource allocation and business growth.
Key Applications
Inventory, Advanced Planning & Scheduling, Shop Floor Data Collection, Job Costing Accounting, Accounting, HR & Payroll, Paperless, Sales
In our daily production meetings, we look at the costs for each work order. The system updates the data every about every five minutes, so it’s constantly pulling in the costs as they happen. This allows us to make sure people are working on the right job at the right time. We can also compare actual costs versus estimated while the job is in progress. We don’t have to wait for accounting to do anything; we just look at the reports.

The key benefit is the ability to customize the software to help others do their jobs more efficiently. With Global Shop Solutions, you’re not locked into doing things a certain way. Whether it’s a GAB script or a custom report, we can come up with our own way that works the way we need it to.

About Galaxy Technologies
Galaxy, based in Winfield, Kansas, is a premier supplier of tooling solutions for aerospace, defense and plastics markets. Established in 1985, the company operates a 150,000-square-foot facility with 200 employees and serves major clients including Boeing, Spirit Aerosystems, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Rubbermaid and Coleman. Galaxy is AS9100 and ISO 9001:2000 certified. The Challenge
Galaxy was constrained by a legacy ERP system that failed to deliver end-to-end operational integration. The company struggled with inefficient scheduling, a reliance on paper-driven processes and delayed visibility into job costing and financial metrics. These challenges hindered productivity across their 150,000-square-foot facility and affected their ability to uphold quality and compliance standards for their major customers, including Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Rubbermaid.
The Solution
Recognizing the need for a comprehensive, integrated ERP platform, Galaxy evaluated solutions that could unify inventory, production, and financial management. The decision to implement Global Shop Solutions was driven by the platform's ability to deliver real-time visibility and robust control across all business units. As Jerry Bolack, Director of IT, noted, "Global Shop Solutions is one of few ERP products that offers inventory control, production control and accounting all in one integrated system. It handles everything we need to run the business, from purchase and sales orders all the way through invoicing." The platform's flexibility, especially through the Global Application Builder (GAB), enabled Galaxy to customize workflows, automate reporting, and support their specific operational requirements. This integrated approach eliminated much of the paperwork, improved scheduling accuracy, and made data instantly accessible throughout the organization.
The Results
The implementation of Global Shop Solutions ERP transformed Galaxy's operations. With 200 employees working in a 150,000 sq ft facility and serving over six major customers, the company now achieves typical lead times of 2-8 weeks with greater efficiency and control. Real-time job costing and financial data became accessible, supporting faster and more informed decision-making. Rick Yaussi, Vice President of Finance, highlighted, "With our old ERP system, we had to wait until end of month to close anything and start seeing costs. With Global Shop Solutions, we can see costs as they occur. No matter where we’re at in the shop or what we’re doing, everything is tied together with instant data." Ultimately, Galaxy realized improved workflow integration, reduced manual processes and a modern manufacturing environment that supports ongoing growth and customer satisfaction.
