Challenge
Prior to implementing Global Shop Solutions, Pa-Ted operated with three separate servers dedicated to production management, document control and label printing. This fragmented IT infrastructure created inefficiencies, led to high maintenance and energy costs and required manual intervention that increased the risk of errors in shipping and labeling. The lack of integration limited real-time data access and slowed down key decision-making processes, impacting productivity and overall operational performance.
Results
By deploying Global Shop Solutions ERP software, Pa-Ted eliminated the need for multiple servers, saving $10,000 annually in maintenance costs and reducing energy consumption. The integrated system enabled real-time data refresh, automated custom labeling and enhanced process transparency. Dashboards improved shipping accuracy and efficiency, while consolidated document management eliminated manual data retrieval. The ERP solution inspired a company-wide commitment to continual improvement and empowered faster, data-driven decision-making across the organization.

About Pa-Ted
Founded in 1946, Pa-Ted is a privately-held manufacturer specializing in custom-designed springs, wire forms and small stampings. Based in Bristol, Connecticut, Pa-Ted serves global customers across diverse industries and operates from a 35,000-square-foot ISO 9001:2008 certified facility.
The Challenge
Pa-Ted faced mounting operational challenges due to a fragmented IT environment. Relying on three separate servers for production management, document control and label printing, the company struggled with high maintenance costs, complex manual workflows and limited visibility across departments. These disconnected systems increased the risk of errors in shipping and labeling and made it difficult to access critical information quickly, ultimately hindering productivity and efficiency in their 35,000-square-foot ISO-certified facility.
The Solution
Recognizing the need for a more integrated and efficient approach, Pa-Ted evaluated their options for consolidating IT infrastructure and enhancing process automation. After assessing available solutions, they chose to continue their longstanding partnership with Global Shop Solutions, whose all-inclusive ERP software offered the comprehensive functionality and scalability required to modernize their operations. "We basically did a complete makeover of our information and production management systems. We chose to continue with Global Shop Solutions because their all-inclusive ERP system allowed us to consolidate our systems and processes even as we downsized our servers," shared Megin Farrell. The implementation enabled Pa-Ted to automate custom labeling, unify production data and centralize document management, drastically reducing the need for manual workarounds. "Getting rid of the document control server was a huge time saver. Every time we needed data from stored documents, we had to exit Global Shop Solutions and go into the document control server to retrieve it. Now we can link and access emails, master prints, certifications, setup cards and everything else all from within the system," Farrell noted. The transition also brought about a new level of support and partnership: "Even more, their customer service and technical support is unlike anything we have ever experienced. The service reps are responsive and very knowledgeable and the troubleshooting process is seamless."
The Results
After deploying Global Shop Solutions ERP software, Pa-Ted realized measurable improvements in cost efficiency, operational visibility and shipping performance. The elimination of three dedicated servers yielded $10,000 in annual maintenance savings, while consolidating systems contributed to lower energy usage. Automated labeling enabled the company to print more than 100 custom labels daily with greater accuracy and speed. Real-time data dashboards empowered shipping personnel to quickly access up-to-date information, minimizing delays and reducing the need for constant status checks. "The best part is that we can make changes to an upcoming shipment and know that the data will automatically refresh within minutes. Shipping personnel can tell right away when we need to ship something, so I no longer have people calling me every five minutes to ask about the shipping status of a job. That’s priceless!" said Farrell. The integrated ERP environment inspired a culture of continual improvement, enabling faster, data-driven decision-making and positioning Pa-Ted for sustained growth and innovation.
