About Humanetics

Humanetics is a Dallas-based precision sheet metal fabricator serving industries such as aerospace, telecom, semiconductor, medical, transportation, defense, ATM and alternative power systems. Operating for over 50 years, it runs four production plants and is ISO 9001 2008 certified.

The Challenge

With over 450 employees and four production plants spanning 300,000 sq ft, Humanetics needed a scalable solution to address inefficiencies from outdated software and disjointed systems. Managing time and attendance through third-party tools created data silos and unnecessary manual work, while lack of real-time scheduling across plants led to resource allocation issues and inconsistent process control.

The Solution

Humanetics selected Global Shop Solutions ERP after identifying the need for an integrated manufacturing ERP platform that could automate shop floor processes, consolidate data and optimize scheduling. The implementation included features such as Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS), Shop Floor Data Collection and biometric timekeeping - all managed through a single private cloud server. According to James Hux, Chief Information Officer at Humanetics: “Global Shop Solutions biometrics enabled us to discard that old software and move all our time and attendance data into the ERP system. Now, the data is more accurate and we don’t have to manage two different pieces of software. With about 450 employees, the time savings add up quickly.” The ability to check capacities across all locations on one server further enhanced production agility. Hux adds, “With APS, we can quickly determine whether we have the available capacity to pull a job in. And because all our plants are on the same Global Shop Solutions server, we can check the scheduling at our other locations to see if they have capacity as well.”

The Results

After more than 20 years leveraging Global Shop Solutions ERP, Humanetics has unified its 450 employees and four manufacturing plants onto a single operational platform. The transition to a private cloud environment reduced IT administration and improved connectivity between HR, accounting and plant management. "The time savings of having just one server are significant. It requires less IT administration. HR and accounting can do their jobs more efficiently. The Global Shop Solutions systems in each plant now ‘talk’ to each other more effectively," says Hux.
