At the end of February, Global Shop Solutions partnered with Sunshine Spaces, a nonprofit that designs dream rooms for children with long-term or terminal illnesses, to sponsor a dream room makeover for local residents of The Woodlands, Texas, sisters Jessica and Frances Taylor.
On the image to the right is Jessica seeing her new room for the first time.
Jessica is courageously battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer that typically occurs in children and young adults. She was diagnosed in September 2015 and she is currently on a trial treatment for her condition at MD Anderson.
Our employees and community came together to meet our goal of raising $6,500 through a kick-off rally. T-shirts, wristbands, and baked goods were for sale along with food donated by local restaurants. This money went directly towards the new flooring that will be put into Jessica’s home.
Over the course of three days, a total of over 100 volunteers including Global Shop Solutions employees helped Sunshine Spaces turn Jessica and Frances’ rooms into the ultimate “chill” zone! From building furniture to installing lights, painting a doll house, and organizing/decorating, the weekend was a huge success and the girls love their new rooms. KPRC Local 2 news came out to the big reveal on Sunday afternoon and was able to film the family’s heartfelt reactions.
Jessica’s sister, Frances, also received a new room.
