For the last few decades, outsourcing manufacturing projects to foreign countries such as China, India, and South Korea has been all of the rage in the US in an attempt to lower production costs and labor time.

But over the last few years, we’ve seen a shift in bringing manufacturing back to American factories. More consumers than ever before are looking for US-manufactured products, which led to the founding of The Reshoring Initiative in 2010 and the first-ever National Reshoring Award.

PMA (Precision Metalforming Association) and The Reshoring Initiative awarded Global Shop Solutions customer Mitchell Metal Products the first National Reshoring Award for the company’s success in bringing manufacturing back to the United States from overseas.

“We’re excited for Mitchell Metal Products receiving the first ever Reshoring Award. It’s an honor to watch how their business has flourished over the last year with the help of ERP software, and how dedicated they are to creating more jobs right here in the US.”

-Dusty Alexander, Global Shop Solutions CEO & President

Mitchell Metal Products was selected after using reshoring to produce more end products with less lead time with the help of Global Shop Solutions. In 2016, the company manufactured a cultivator handle subassembly product, increasing the production volume from 4,500 made overseas to 30,000 made in Wisconsin.

By using Global Shop Solutions, Mitchell Metal Products has been able to drive more accurate costs, better production and capture data in real time, allowing them to make better business decisions. This leads to growth and more jobs, right here on the home front.

Congratulations Mitchell Metal Products! We’re honored to serve a company who is dedicated to bringing manufacturing back to the good ol’ USA.
