Global Shop Solutions is an American success story. From Dick Alexander's lifelong dream of business ownership, job creation, and public service to a provider of cost savings to thousands of manufacturing users, Global Shop embodies entrepreneurship at its finest.
Founder Dick Alexander incorporated Global Shop Solutions in 1976. His background includes a B.S. from the University of Missouri, followed by service as an officer in the United States Navy, Harvard MBA, and CPA. Dick worked as corporate controller for Case Tractor at the largest plant in Racine, Wisconsin, where he instituted savings in the millions of dollars through computer systems. Following employment with a large medical instrumentation manufacturer in Houston, Dick started Global Shop as a computer service bureau in a small, one-person office. Through the years, the company has grown to include thousands of users throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Latin America, and Asia supported by over 100 Global Shop employees. Dick is active in the day-to-day business operations as chairman/CEO.
Dustin Alexander, Dick's son, became president of Global Shop in 2006. Dusty grew up around the business. In his teens, he mowed the office lawn and ran errands. As a Baylor University student, he set up an office in Waco, TX, and recruited a staff of college students to generate leads. Following graduation in 1990 with a B.S. in business and finance, Dusty went to work full time in sales. Through his efforts, the company saw its greatest growth. Many product innovations and services have been instituted as a result of Dusty's close interaction with Global Shop customers. He continues to talk to customers on a daily basis and conducts frequent webinars to educate them on new products and updates or just to check their progress with the system. It's fair to say that Dusty has personally visited hundreds of shops just like yours.
